Salary retention, per year
Keep part of a contract to make a deal work: set the retained slice for each remaining year, and the machine splits the hit between both teams — clamped so you can never retain more than the contract itself.
The verdict, year by year
A pinned verdict bar recalculates as you build: both teams' cap space after the trade for every season, OVER flags on the exact team and year that breaks, and a suggestion for what would fix it.
